Supporting Canola-Flower-Field Reconstruction Project

NYK has concluded a contract with United Green for partial ownership of a canola flower field along the Sanriku shoreline, an area that suffered extensive damage from the tsunami that accompanied the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. United Green is a general incorporated association that has implemented a recovery project involving canola flower fields in Kamaishi city in Iwate prefecture. To improve the landscape and help develop a sustainable regional industry, canola flowers have been planted in farmlands that had been damaged by salt or simply abandoned. This contract will make NYK an owner of a specific area of the canola flower field. The company will organize volunteers to assist with the project, and the canola oil will be sold inside the company so that employees who may not have the opportunity to visit the region can be a part of the recovery effort and maintain a connection with the area's residents.

bet365 中文oup - JPF Joint Aid Supplies Transportation Projects

NYK has launched the bet365 中文oup-JPF Joint Aid Supplies Transportation Project in cooperation with Japan Platform (JPF), an international humanitarian assistance organization. The project promotes activities that provide support to victims of large natural disasters. The launch of the project was first inspired when the bet365 中文oup and JPF jointly provided emergency relief to victims of the immense earthquake that occurred off the northern tip of Sumatra, Indonesia, and the tremendous damage in Southeast and South Asia that resulted from the subsequent tsunami on December 26, 2004.

In this project, first, the nongovernmental organizations (NGO) who participate in the JPF program and JPF members conduct intensive preliminary assessments to determine what aid supplies are required by victims. Based on the assessment, NYK transports emergency aid commodities free of charge on its containerships to a port nearby the disaster site. Next, JPF/NGO members deliver emergency supplies to those in need.
