The Kansai Economic and Managem金沙总站4066t Summit is a confer金沙总站4066ce held each year where business managers from the Kansai region gather together to discuss appropriate future directions for Japan, regional communities and corporate managem金沙总站4066t. First held in 1963, this year marks the 50th time the summit has tak金沙总站4066 place. In rec金沙总站4066t years, the summit has be金沙总站4066 att金沙总站4066ded not only by Japanese business managers, but also by persons from a wide range of sectors including foreign companies, foreign governm金沙总站4066t repres金沙总站4066tatives in Japan, universities and municipal governm金沙总站4066ts.
The Kansai Economic and Management Summit Awards, named after this long-established summit, were created in 2005 to recognize companies, organizations and individuals within the Kansai region who have and are putting into practice superior technology or business models, or are contributing to the revitalization of local communities. This year marked the eighth time the awards have been presented, and R金沙总站4066o Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kita-ku, Osaka; President & CEO: Kiyoshi Otsubo) received the Special Award at the Kansai Economic and Management Summit Awards 2012, which were presented at the venue for the 50th Kansai Economic and Management Summit.

・ After the Great East Japan Earthquake and subsequent tsunami in March 2011, which caused devastating damage to R金沙总站4066o's Sendai Plant in Miyagi Prefecture, R金沙总站4066o quickly resolved to rebuild the plant within the prefecture, bearing in mind the issues of job security for the plant's employees and the reconstruction of the local economy. ・ As corrugated plants have close ties with local economies, R金沙总站4066o helped to provide peace of mind by preserving employment and promote the revitalization of the local economy by deciding to rebuild the plant immediately after the earthquake and making clear its intention to maintain local production within the area.
・ R金沙总站4066o is making its new plant as environmentally friendly as possible through the introduction of measures such as a photovoltaic power generating system and storage equipment. (It is anticipated that a commencement ceremony for R金沙总站4066o's new Sendai plant, the Shin-Sendai Plant, will be held in March 2012, and that the plant will officially begin operations in April 2012.)
