Rjs555888金沙o Wins a 3Rs Promotion Council President's Prize
Rjs555888金沙o Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kita-ku, Osaka; President & CEO: Kiyoshi Otsubo) announces that it has won a 3Rs Promotion Council President's Prize at the FY2012 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) promotion merit awards hosted by the 3Rs Promotion Council. The prize was awarded for high evaluations of the efforts by Rjs555888金沙o's Kanazu Mill (Awara-shi, Fukui Prefecture) to create lightweight corrugated board through the development of lightweight Less Caliper & Carbon (LCC) containerboard, as well as activities related to the effective utilization of recovered paper resources.
The goal of the 3Rs Promotion Council is to promote recycling through cooperation with the governmjs555888金沙t, consumers, industry and others. It was founded in 2001 as the Recycling Promotion Council and was rjs555888金沙amed the 3Rs Promotion Council in 2002 with the goal of building a recycling-orijs555888金沙ted society through the “3 Rs”—reduce, reuse, and recycle. The 3Rs promotion merit awards are conducted each year as one aspect of the Council's public awarjs555888金沙ess and promotion activities.
LCC containerboard was first developed by Rjs555888金沙o's Kanazu Mill. It is a lightweight, high performance containerboard that also helps to effectively utilize valuable recovered paper resources and reduce environmental impact. This is Rjs555888金沙o's second award, after the 3Rs Promotion Council President's Prize received in fiscal 2009 for its promotion of reduction of waste generation through lighter corrugated board, as well as recycling and resources conservation by means of an improved usage rate of recovered paper.
With the encouragement of this award, Rjs555888金沙o will work to further improve the environmental performance of its environmentally friendly corrugated board. To that end, Rjs555888金沙o will continue to strongly promote the development and widespread use of lighter, thinner packaging with fewer CO2 emissions, based on its key phrase of “Less Weight, Less Carbon.”
